Dortmund/Vienna (euro adhoc) - adesso Austria GmbH has been
identified as the successful bidder in the University of Vienna's
public tender process for a project worth millions of euros. adesso
Austria will join up with the university to design, develop and
implement a new web portal for students and academic staff. The
project is set for completion in mid-2014 and encompasses consultancy
and software development services worth a total of EUR 2.3 million.

The new web portal being realised by adesso is set to be an
information and communication platform operational throughout the
University of Vienna, providing both students and academic staff with
user-friendly centralised access to all online services related to
academic courses. The solution will replace the existing IT system
which no longer caters for the full range of modern-day technical
possibilities. A survey on the existing system carried out by the
university revealed potential for improvement with regard to
user-friendliness and interaction between students, academic staff
and the university's administrative department.

The portal forms part of the university's target to increase quality
in administrative student services and in the organisation and
realisation of courses and teaching. It will also serve as a basis to
simplify system maintenance, and improve the university's public
image. The project participants are working closely with the
university's department for Educational Affairs and Computer
Services, its IT department, as well as representatives of all user
groups. Among the key emphases of this work is the sharing of
expertise in fields such as agile software development, which will
empower the university to operate the software independently and
develop it further according to its needs.

With a student body of approximately 91,000 and around 9,400
employees, 6,700 of whom are academic staff, the University of Vienna
is one of Europe's largest higher education institutions. The
commission of this project will increase adesso's presence on the
Austrian market. Success in the public tender process is also further
proof of adesso Austria GmbH's successful development. The company
expects to make a significant profit in 2012 after a significant
increase in turnover.
