Göppingen, October 30, 2013 - Schuler AG is adapting its corporate
structures to the internationalization of its sales markets, reducing its
level of vertical integration in Germany, and introducing a shared service
organization to pool administrative functions. Already in preparation is
the merger of Group companies aimed at significantly streamlining corporate
structures. The Board of Management today informed the Supervisory Board
about the main measures it is planning. These include the closure of the
company's foundry in Göppingen. The Erfurt plant is to become the sole
production plant in Germany for large-scale presses.
All in all, these measures will result in internal restructuring throughout
Germany and also lead to the loss of 350 jobs. The company has earmarked
costs of approximately EUR 50 million for the structural changes. Around
EUR 35 million of this amount will be carried as accruals in the
consolidated financial statements for the current short fiscal year 2013
(October 1 to December 31, 2013). Following the implementation of these
structural measures, the Board of Management anticipates annual cost
savings of EUR 15 to EUR 20 million.
