IMMOSOLAR constructs IBA-Dock: The floating climate house IMMOSOLAR at INTERSOLAR

München (ots) - IMMOSOLAR constructs the IBA-Dock in the middle of
Hamburg: The future floating information center for the International
Construction Exhibition Hamburg (IBA) needs no external energy. The
heating, hot water production and cooling of the objects conceived by
IMMOSOLAR is completely guaranteed by renewable energy . The
essential energy generators are solar collectors (approx. 34 m2 gross
collector area) and a brine /water-heat pump (44 kW). Die energy
source for the heat pump is the reinforced concrete-pontoon, in which
reinforcement mats are laid with heat exchanger pipes (closed brine
system).

The system is completed by EnergyManagementSystem (EMS) as the
central control- and hydraulic unit. The EMS makes sure that all
energy flows are utilized depending on temperature and demand. Solar
energy is directly forwarded to the loads on demand, or stored
intermediately for later utilization. Here, several storage tanks
such as combi-storage tank with flow principle (650 Liter), buffer
storage tank (1500 Liter), buffer storage tank, coolant storage tank
(500 Liter) and closed brine systems (approx. 2600 Liter) are loaded
or unloaded according to priority.

The solar collectors cover the largest part of the hot water
production and a part of the heating energy. Furthermore, the solar
energy is supplied with temperatures below 30°C, which cannot be used
for hot water and heating, thermoactive component systems,
underground brine storage tanks or drill probes and stored
intermediately. The stored energy is lifted in the heating period by
means of the heat pump to a temperature level usable for heating
purposes and supplied to the heating areas and hot water production.
This clearly increases the solar output and the yearly COP of the
heat pump and thus the efficiency of the total system.

During the cooling period in the summer months, the closed brine
system is utilized by means of the heat pump, in order to carry the
room heat to the pontoon. For heating- and cooling distribution in
the building, heating- and cooling floors are applied. This area
systems work with a low temperature level of max. 35°C feed line
temperature. This ensures an optimal yearly COP of the heat pump and
a high degree of efficiency of the solar thermal system.

In a Zero-Balance concept, the energy required by the building, is
generated by its technical equipment. In case of the IBA_Dock, a 16.7
kWp Photovoltaic system is installed over the roof terrace, which
simultaneously serves as partial shading. They generate a part of the
auxiliary electrical energy, which is required to drive the
compressors, pumps etc. This energy is supplied to the network of the
City of Hamburg. The finishing of the IBA-Dock takes place in third
Quarter of 2009.
