Büdelsdorf, 10 May 2012 (euro adhoc) - freenet AG has started the new
year on a high note, further improving its operating performance in
the first quarter of 2012. Against this backdrop, the Executive Board
of freenet AG has confirmed the guidance issued in connection with
the preliminary financial results 2011. The Group reports
first-quarter EBITDA 2012 (earnings before interest, taxes,
depreciation and amortisation) of 85.1 million euros, up from 78.4
million euros in Q1/2011, and free cash flow* of 72.4 million euros
(Q1/2011: 72.5 million euros). In the first three months of 2012,
freenet generated revenues of 744.2 million euros (-5.7 percent
compared to Q1/2011). The Group result for the reporting period
increased by 14.6 million euros or 56.0 percent to 40.6 million
euros. The number of mobile communications customers came to 14.74
million at the end of Q1/2012. The contract customer base (postpaid)
remained nearly stable at 5.69 million (Q1/2011: 5.75 million), while
the no frills customer base has grown by 90,000 since Q4/2011, to
2.46 million at the end of March 2012. At 23.4 euros, the monthly
average revenue per contract customer (ARPU) during Q1/2012 remained
stable year on year (Q1/2011: 23.3 euros). freenet AG's complete
