KfW IPEX-Bank provides investment loan to GETRAG FORD Transmissions

- Efficient 6 speed transmissions to improve vehicle CO2 and
dynamic performance
- Supply by medium-sized enterprises
- Manufacturing reorganisation to improve capabilities of the
production at the sites in Cologne and Halewood

With a capital investment loan of 50 million Euro KfW IPEX-Bank
supports the transmission manufacturer GETRAG FORD Transmissions in
an upgrade of its production facilities for its key customers in
Europe. The production capability at the Cologne transmission plant
will be improved significantly to reflect modern manufacturing
techniques through 2013, machines and tools will be delivered by
middle size German machine and tool builders. At the same time the
production facilities at the Halewood plant (GB) will also be
significantly enhanced reflecting the continued shift in product mix
to more fuel efficient product offerings.

Besides a significant boost for the products that are in great
demand the business also achieves positive environmental impacts as
GETRAG FORD Transmissions replaces the traditional 5 speed
transmissions by modern and efficient 6 speed transmissions as part
of this capacity expansion. This leads to a noticeable fuel economy
and CO2 reduction. KfW IPEX-Bank will provide the loan for seven
years.
