Wonderful sound in your hand luggage: the new PXC 450 high-end headphones from Sennheiser

When it comes to good travel headphones, there are three things at
the top of any frequent flyer or holidaymaker's wish list: they
should sound fantastic, be effective in reducing external noise and
be comfortable to wear. Thanks to the very latest technology, all
these wishes have come true in the form of a high-end travel
headphone set which audio specialist Sennheiser will be showing at
the IFA 2007 in Berlin. The PXC 450 NoiseGard guarantees perfect
enjoyment as you listen to music and films, even when there is plenty
of background noise, because it passively and actively reduces
intrusive external sounds. And so that you can easily chat to your
neighbour, the PXC 450 are also fitted with a TalkThrough function.
This novel feature means you can enjoy a conversation without having
to take your headphones off. And not only do they provide you with
miraculous sound quality when you're on the move, they're practical
too - just fold them up and pack them away.

Perfect sound and no unwanted background noise: for business
travellers and holidaymakers the latest travel headphones from audio
specialist Sennheiser are one of the must-have items in your hand
luggage. "With the PXC 450, we are offering high-end, circumaural
travel headphones which produce fantastic music and sound when you're
out and about," says Sven Wilhelmsen, Headphones Product Manager at
Sennheiser. "Music lovers and film fans have always wanted full-size
headphones for when they're on the move. The new PXC 450 are not only
extremely effective at reducing ambient noise, you can now enjoy
unprecedented sound quality with travel headphones."

Getting such fantastic sound when travelling is down to three
technical features: adaptive baffle damping which gives consistently
good bass reproduction; the patented Duofol diaphragms which prevent
unwanted partial oscillations and ensure interference-free,
crystal-clear sound; and finally the NoiseGard[TM] 2.0 noise
reduction system which actively takes care of disturbing low
frequency noise, reducing it by up to 90 per cent. Tiny microphones
in the headphone earpieces pick up ambient noise, and a processor
calculates the exact opposite signal so that noise and anti-noise
cancel each other out and your ear hears (almost) only what it should
really be hearing.

"In the past there was just one problem with travel headphones
which had these deluxe features," says Product Manager Sven
Wilhelmsen. "They did such a good job at screening unwanted outside
noise that you couldn't really have a proper conversation without
taking your headphones off. But we've now found an innovative
solution to this problem with the TalkThrough function." This new
technology - offered by Sennheiser for the first time in the PXC 450
- means that the electronics differentiate between simple noise, such
as the noise from engines for example, and the voice of the person
sitting next to you, filtering it out and passing it on to your ear.
"At last you can easily have a conversation without having to take
off your headphones while most notably still benefiting from the
headphones' noise filtering function," explains Sven Wilhelmsen.

With the PXC 450 you can adjust the volume of your music directly
on the headphones. The PXC 450 are powered by standard AAA batteries
which, unlike special storage cells, can easily be bought at
airports. And if your batteries run out during a flight, audio
transmission still works, even without a power source.

Their design makes your new travel companion a match for high
quality headphones in the home too. Soft cushioning on the headband
and circumaural ear pads makes them extremely comfortable to wear.
Both the ear pads and the single-sided cord are replaceable for
long-lasting enjoyment of these sturdy headphones. As the PXC 450 are
designed primarily for travellers and their specific needs, they can
simply and quickly be folded away and stored in a space-saving
practical pouch. They come complete with adaptors for in-flight
entertainment (3.5mm double mono) and for 6.3mm (1/4") connections.
