High-Performance CD/DVD Printer with Single Ink System

Dieburg (ots) - LSK Data Systems, manufacturer of professional

high-performance CD/DVD printer at the CeBIT trade show in Hanover.
The fast and economical printer is the optimal solution for
industrial users wanting to produce high volumes in a professional
quality while keeping unit prices and operating costs low.

The ODP 500 is based on the approved Hewlett Packard High-End
Office Jet printing technology and is available in-line with the LSK
CD/DVD duplicator and print robotic systems. The ODP 500 uses the
Thermo Inkjet procedure to print CD/DVD labels in four colors (CMYK)
in a fast and cost-efficient way. With its print speed from ten
seconds up to a maximum of two minutes per disc, the ODP 500 is the
optimal solution for the industrial user who has high print volumes.
The four single ink cartridges, which can be replaced individually,
are located separately outside the printing area and are connected to
the two print heads via a tube system. These two semi-permanent print
heads belong to the most recent HP inkjet printer generation and have
2112 nozzles (1200 nozzles/inch). The separated technology (off-axis)
leads to lower printing costs per disc because each ink is completely
used up and because the high-performance print heads have a lifetime
of about 90,000 prints. The high filling capacity of the ink
cartridges (Black: 58.5 ml, Cyan, Magenta & Yellow each 17 ml)
constitutes another advantage. This ink capacity allows unattended
printing for a longer period of time, e.g. overnight. The ODP 500
also convinces with its high print capacity. Being no louder than a
whisper, the ODP 500 prints up to 120 CD labels per hour full surface
and in photo quality. The exact capacity depends on the respective
print job and print mode. Three different print modes with three
different resolutions each can be set. Each ink set has a capacity to
print about 900 CDs with an even balance of the inks used. As the
only printer of its class, the ODP 500 offers a special exhausting
system to extract colour mist during the printing process. This
feature increases the production safety, prolongs the service
intervals, and positively affects the print result. The HP PhotoREt
III Precision Technology allows printouts in photorealistic quality.
It uses microscopically tiny drop sizes and precise software control
to place up to 29 ink drops of 5 picolitres each per dot. This
generates a range of printable colors of 3,500 colors per dot. The
new HP ColorSmart III Technology allows the printer to deliver sharp
and vivid color output which is true to the user's original. A
resolution of up to 1200x1200 dpi can be selected for black and white
prints. Color prints can be printed with a resolution of up to
4800x1200 dpi (optimized). The ODP 500 has a high-speed USB interface
and is compatible with both PC and MAC systems. Principally, inkjet
printable media of all common manufacturers can be used in the ODP
500. LSK regularly tests media of renowned manufacturers and gives
recommendations on request.
