On December 1, 2006, Capital Bank will start as AvW Invest AG’s third
market maker on the Vienna Stock Exchange. From that date on, Capital
Bank, in addition to Raiffeisen Centrobank and Euro Invest Bank, will
contribute to enhancing the AvW share’s liquidity on the Vienna Stock
Exchange. This ensures that transactions involving AvW shares will be
even more transparent while at the same time supply and demand are
increased.

AvW also increased its raw materials investments. The share in the
Australian zinc mine CBH Resources was expanded through an investment
of around AUD 1 million. In the course of the Macmin silver mine’s
capital increase, in which AvW already holds a 1% interest, an
additional amount of around AUD 500,000 was invested. Another goal is
to further expand the interest in the Australian gold mine Equigold
in 2007. The AvW Group is among Equigold’s ten largest investors.
Wolfgang Auer von Welsbach, Chairman of the AvW Board of Management,
expects a strong upward tendency for precious metals in the future,
as the level of demand is significantly higher than the level of
supply. If the Chinese monetary reserves are indeed diversified into
gold, this will lead to a further boost in demand. In the long term,
therefore, investments in gold should be maintained.
