Ad hoc release under Section 15 Securities Trading Law
KarstadtQuelle: New structure for Mail Order

Essen, November 28, 2006. KarstadtQuelle AG is optimizing its Mail
Order division and providing it with a new structure. Universal Mail
Order Germany is to concentrate on the market leader Quelle. Its
second Universal Mail Order company neckermann.de will be floated on
the stock exchange in 2007. As an alternative, consideration is also
being given to the disposal of neckermann.de, the No. 3 in the German
mail order market. The development of Quelle GmbH, Europe’s leading
universal mail order company, is to be advanced strongly. In the
process, focus will be given to strenghten further the leading
position among German mail order companies in the e-commerce
business. Furthermore, Quelle plans to initiate business in the
growing teleshopping sector. International business at Quelle will be
rigorously aligned to growth regions. Here Quelle is concentrating
its activities on Central and Eastern Europe, as well as
German-speaking territories, with particular attention being rapid
expansion in Russia. The companies in France, Portugal and Spain are
to be sold, with relevant sales talks already having been initiated.
In Belgium and in the Netherlands activities are to be discontinued
to the beginning of 2007. In Specialty Mail Order, KarstadtQuelle
will concentrate on the Golden Ager, Premium and Communities
segments. Over the mid-term, KarstadtQuelle will dispose of all other
specialty Mail Order companies. The Mail Order Service Group,
consisting of 14 call centers, five logistics locations and IT
service providers with a total of 10,000 employees is to be sold or
developed in conjunction with a strategic partner.
