Haarlem/Netherlands, September 26, 2006. LYCOS Europe N.V. (ISIN
NL000023319), one of Europe's leading portal providers and online
advertisers, accelerates its strategic alignment as a provider of
portal services and paid services & shopping solutions. Following its
strategy to focus on profitable growth in the portal business and
paid services & shopping arena LYCOS Europe is in an advanced state
of negotiations about the sale of its Swedish entities which are
mainly driven by the access business of the LYCOS Europe subsidiary
Spray. LYCOS Europe is confident to have the negotiations finalized
in the coming months.

Against this background, LYCOS Europe clearly accelerated its
activities in the field of mergers & acquisitions in the past months.
In this regard LYCOS Europe is in the process of a close examination
of opportunities to strengthen its business in the field of paid
services & shopping. Mainly due to higher consultancy costs as a one
time effect as well as due to revenues below expectations caused
partly by a weak summer season, LYCOS Europe expects its results for
the third quarter of 2006 as follows: Turnover between EUR 27 million
and EUR 30 million; EBIT between EUR (5.0) million and EUR (6.5)
million; net result between EUR (4.0) million and EUR (5.5) million.

LYCOS Europe N.V. will present the complete report for the first nine
months and the third quarter of the current fiscal year on Tuesday,
October 24, 2006.
