Berlin, Germany (ots) - NXP, the newly independent semiconductor
company founded by Philips, today announced that at IFA 2006 (Booth
220, Hall 1.1B) it will demonstrate technology that enables
manufacturers to offer amazing picture and sound quality, is easy to
set up and use, and connects to a variety of digital content. As a
result, consumers will be able to enjoy a truly unique experience
that enhances the way they hear, see or interact with the
entertainment, information and services of their choice - anytime,
anywhere.

NXP will be demonstrating the following multimedia applications
for a true-to-life digital entertainment experience at Booth 220 in
Hall 1.1B.

At home
1. Connected living: A multi-room personal video recorder (PVR),
powered by the NXP Nexperia[TM] STB810 hybrid set-top box
solution, creates a centralized multimedia system that delivers
PVR functionality to any room in the home, connected wirelessly
to:
- A Digital Media Adapter (DMA) using the NXP Nexperia PNX1502
for browsing PVR and PC content around the home
- An audio hub server and client powered by the NXP Nexperia PNX
8706 to enable anytime, anywhere music access
- A PC server, powered by NXP silicon tuners, decoders and
demodulators, acting as a server for pictures, music, stored
and live satellite or terrestrial TV broadcasts
- A security camera, allowing you to see on your television who
is at the door or to monitor your house on your computer while
you are on holidays, powered by the NXP Nexperia Media
Processor
2. Watch, record and preview live LCD quality TV on a PC with the
NXP SAA7164 PCI Express Bridge
3. High quality LCD TV viewing enabled by NXP Nexperia TV520 and
TV507 system solutions, making NXP the first company with one
platform for both analog as well as digital TV for all regions,
DVB/PAL or ATSC
4. Purchase movies via the Internet using a NXP Near Field
Communications (NFC)-enabled remote control, authorised by Visa
International

On the move
1. Roam and switch unnoticed between fixed and mobile services to
make inexpensive calls, without compromising service and voice
quality using the Samsung SGH-P200 phone with NXP Nexperia
cellular system solution 6120
2. TV-on-mobile for live access to TV, music videos, on mobile
phones and personal media players (PMP) enabled by NXP new
Digital Video Broadcast - Handheld (DVB-H) front-end solution,
BGT215 and the Nexperia cellular system solution 7200
3. Feature-rich in-car digital audio and video entertainment by
accessing content from a variety of storage media enabled by
the NXP Nexperia multimedia processor PNX9520
