The growth company AvW INVEST AG, which is listed on the Vienna Stock
Exchange, posted a particularly strong result for the first six
months of the current financial year. The operating result increased
by 124 per cent to EUR 5.225 million (2005:EUR 2.336 million), the
profit before taxes by 95 per cent to EUR 5.229 million (2005: EUR
2.680 million), and the net profit for the period by 105 per cent to
EUR 3.956 million (2005: EUR 1.941 million). In the first six months
of the current financial year, the earnings per share rose by 105 per
cent to EUR 1,31 (2005: EUR 0,64).

This highly satisfactory result has been based on the above-average
growth experienced in the financial services field. In the area of
investment business, minor positions held in large companies, such as
Hirsch Servo and Pankl Racing, were sold.

Acquisitions were primarily focused on the German and Austrian IT
sector. Consequently, the holdings in S&T (SNTS.VI) were increased to
more than 18,5 per cent and those in Cancom (COKG.DE) to more than 9
per cent.

For the year as a whole, the Chairman of the Board of Management,
Wolfgang Auer von Welsbach, is expecting a strong increase in net
profits of at least 50 per cent. A more detailed forecast will be
issued at the end of the third quarter of the current financial year
at the latest.
