The sale of Conergy Wind GmbH cannot be realized as planned

Hamburg, 16 October 2008: The sale of the business of Conergy Wind
GmbH, which had been agreed upon between Conergy AG and the private
equity investor Warburg Pincus and announced on 9 September 2008,
cannot be realized as planned. The transaction was subject to several
closing conditions which were all complied with apart from one. One
of the closing conditions was the transfer of public grants of up to
EUR 3.5m advised and partially granted by the federal state of Bremen
for the local production site of Conergy Wind GmbH. That transfer of
the public grants to the purchaser was now surprisingly rejected by
the responsible authority. Therefore, Conergy AG and Warburg Pincus
are no longer bound to the original contract.

In the interest of the business unit, Conergy is still looking to
find a short-term solution and assumes that this will economically be
in accordance with the current plans- even in case of the liquidation
of Conergy Wind GmbH.
